Korea War 65th Anniv. Truce Event

On July 27, 2018 in a ceremony chaired by Lew Ewing and held at the Korean War Memorial in Washington, D. C., the fifteen (15) recipients of the 2018 American Veterans of Korea Foundation scholarships were recognized.  Each scholarship is in the amount of $2,000.  With the fifteen presented this year, the AVKF has, over the past five years, sponsored a total of 50 scholarships totaling $100,000.  We want to express or sincere thanks and gratitude to Chairman Kim, Jung Hoon and the Board of Directors of the AVKF for this generous gift to support our young people as they pursue their college degrees. 

       This year, three of the recipients, LILY HOFMAN, JULIET PIOLI and ANNA-KATE RAGAN  attended at the ceremony and received a Scholarship Award Certificate              

Presented by Dr. Paul Cunningham, the President of the Korean War Veterans Association.                                                                      

            Lily Hoffman is a Freshman majoring in Business Administration at the University of Toledo.                                                                                   Juliet Pioli is a Sophomore majoring in Nursing at the University of South Carolina.                                                                                 Anna-Kate Ragan is a Freshman majoring in History and Elementary Education at Hillsdale College.

The AVKF has asked the KWVA to administer the program for them and serving on the Scholarship Selection Committee are Lew Ewing, Chairman, Narce Caliva and Jim Markley.
