Asbury C. Triplett, Jr.

Asbury Cleveland Triplett, Jr., 77, of Winchester, Virginia, died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Winchester Medical Center.


He was born February 25, 1932, in Winchester, the son of A. C. Triplett, Sr. and Emma Shorb Triplett. He married Bonnie Lentz, May 27, 1994 in Honolulu, HI. 


He is survived by his wife of fourteen years, Bonnie, of Winchester; one son, Larry A. Triplett, of Winchester; two daughters, Brenda S. Triplett and Elizabeth A. Whitlock both of Winchester; two sisters, Kathryn Smalley of Winchester and Lucille Williamson of Stephenson, VA; one brother, Samuel Triplett of Winchester; nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, D. Marie Triplett; one daughter, Joan M. Spicer; and one son, Robert A. Triplett.


A.C. served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. He was a self employed Sheet Metal Worker for 46 years until his retirement. He was a life-time member of VFW Post 2123; a member of American Legion Post 21; the 38th Ordinance Association, the National Korean War Veterans Association, Inc. and a Charter Member of the Shenandoah Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association #313.


A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 10, 2009 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Winchester with Rev. Floyd J. Wine officiating. Burial will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park with Military Honors by VFW Post 2123. Pallbearers will be Ike McFarland, Kenneth Gentry, John Sibert, Vince Miller, Glenn Bernstein, Michael Hott and Richard Jones. Members of the Shenandoah Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association will serve as honorary pallbearers.
