Donald Harvey Jones, 92, of Stephens City, VA, gained his wings on Monday, November 22, 2021 at the Winchester Medical Center.
Donald was born on May 4, 1929, in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Benjamin and Blanche Lowery Jones. Donald attended Handley High School, a member of Refuge United Methodist Church in Stephens City, and was a 26 year veteran in the United States Air Force where he served in the Korean Conflict / Army Air Corp. Donald was active in the Winchester Moose #1283, VFW Post #9646 in Stephens City where he was Past Commander. He was a member of AARP, National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), and Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens.
Donald married his wife of 68 years Doris Belford Jones on February 9, 1953 in Hagerstown, MD. Doris died on April 21, 2021. He is survived by two daughters: Rebecca Ann “Becky” Galmiche (James) of Chambersburg, PA; Christel Linn Thomas of Stephens City, VA; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two sons: Gregory Lynn Jones; Timothy Glenn Jones; three brothers: William, Jack, and Benny Jones; and a grandchild: Donnie Mercier.
A graveside service will be held in the Refuge United Methodist Church Cemetery on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 2:30 PM. Officiating will be Pastor Laetitia Schoeman. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Air Force. Memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s memory to the Refuge United Methodist Church, 717 Refuge Church Rd., Stephens City, VA 22655.
