Spain, but when the Berlin wall went up, he was moved to the 3rd Armored Div. in Germany. Upon his return, Narce was the Field Director at Marine Corp Air Station in Yuma, AZ.

To broaden his ARC background,  he then became a travelling field representative assisting scores of Chapters in the West. He also went on disaster assignments, including two months in St Bernard’s Parish after hurricane Betsy in 1965.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam war was escalating and in May, 1966, Narce was promoted to Area Assistant Director at Western District HQ in San Francisco, CA.

From May 1967 to May 1968 Narce was Area Assistant Director in Vietnam supervising over 20 Field Directors embedded in the upper half of South Vietnam. He spent much time visiting staff and the Commands.

He then spent 18 months back in the Western Area, then 18 months overseas at Far East HQ at Camp Zama, Japan. For half that tour, he had the “Islands Territory” – Japan-Okinawa-Guam-Taiwan, and the Philippines. The last nine months he supervised the 17

Field stations in Korea, but recognized very little of what he had left behind 18 years before.

During the 1970’s, he directed the Office of Training before moving up to oversee the 12 Division Managers monitoring the activities of over 1200 Chapters. After four years Narce was named Western Manager of service to the Armed Forces for three years when he was chosen to be in  charge of all operations in Europe and the Middle East . Upon his return to the U.S. Narce had a temporary assignment at NHQ in Washington, DC, while completing 30 years of service and retired in 1989. (However, he has spent the years since as a Red cross volunteer).

The Calivas, Narce & his wife Leslie settled in Fredericksburg where they would live for 15 years before relocating in Winchester in 2005 to be nearer to family.

As for a hobby, Narce has maintained a lifelong interest in handwriting analysis. These days, Narce is very much enjoying KWVA activities. Narce is surely an asset to Chapter 313.
