MIDDLETOWN INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE.

It was a very pleasant evening, except for a few raindrops that fell, on Sunday, July 4th, as the annual Independence Day Parade passed through the streets of Middletown, VA as we celebrated the 245th anniversary of the birth of our great nation.

Twelve of our members joined hundreds of other proud participants as we traversed the parade route through the center of town, greeted by the largest number of excited spectators that ever attended the parade.  As always the spectators gave us a very warm, standing ovation as we passed by

Also attending were the current Miss Virginia, Tatum Sheppard, members of the US Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps from Ft. Myers, and two former members of the Redskins Football team, Brian Mitchell and Ken Harvey.

It was a great day in Middletown!  I would encourage everyone to make an effort to participate in future parades either in Stephens City, Middletown or in Washington, D.C.  You will enjoy it. Cmdr. Lew Ewing. (Photos-thanks to Hal Miller’s daughter, Kellie Burow).
