Wilbur Glenn Ramsburg 

Wilbur Glenn Ramsburg, 96, of Charles Town, WV passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Glenn was born April 23, 1927 in Jefferson County, WV, he was the son of the late Herbert Oscar Ramsburg and Mary Jane (Furr) Ramsburg.

Glenn along with his wife, Dorcas had worked viewings and services at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home.  He retired in 1987 from the General Telephone Company after 41 years of service. Prior he worked for Victor Products and Myers Coal Company.

He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town where he was a former member of the Church Choir for 38 years and was Song Leader for the Adult Sunday School Division. Also a member of the Builder’s Bible Class where he was Past President.

Glenn graduated from Charles Town High School, class of 1945 where he received the Good Citizenship Award. Also attended numerous schools while employed with General Telephone Company.

He was the oldest member of the Citizens Fire Company, Charles Town, WV.

He was a Board Member of the Jefferson County Memorial Park. Former member of the American Red Cross. Former member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce where he was the Recipient of the DSA Award in 1962. Past Member of the Jackson-Perks American Legion Post #71, Charles Town, WV, Loyal Order of Moose 948, Past Member of the VFW Post #3522, Charles Town.  He was a Board Member for the Edge Hill Cemetery and a member of the Korean War Veterans Association Shenandoah Valley Chapter 313.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he received the rank of Sergeant.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Dorcas A. (Frye) Ramsburg; son, David G. Ramsburg of Charles Town, WV and Fiancee, Stacey Hutzell ; grandson, Grant David Ramsburg and wife Samantha Mullens Ramsburg; great-grandchildren, Paisley and Samuel Ramsburg; brother, Lee B. Ramsburg and wife Charlotte, of Sykesville, MD; nieces and nephews.

 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Florence E. James, Eva Clark, Hilda Guth, Pauline DeHaven, Jessie Boyd; brother H. Clarence Ramsburg.

Services will be held at noon Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town with Rev. Duane Jensen officiating.

 Interment will be in the Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town, WV.

Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Ranson, WV.
