Charles H. Patton
Charles H. (Jack) Patton passed away on June 23, 2012 at his home. Jack was born in Winchester on October 20th, 1931, but he grew up in the Clearbrook and Stephenson area and graduated from Stonewall High school in 1949. At Stonewall, he was an outstanding athlete, excelling in all sports, especially baseball. Following high school, he received a baseball scholarship from Shepherd college where he was the ace of their pitching staff before he was drafted into the U S Army and sent to Korea.
In Korea, he fought in major battles in the iron triangle, namely on Pork Chop Hill, the Punch Bowl, Christmas Ridge and finally at Outpost Harry where he was assigned when the fighting came to an end with the signing of the Truce.
Due to his poor health, he was unable to attend many meetings, but he was a member of Shenandoah Valley Chapter #313 Korea War Veterans in Winchester. He was a valued member of our Chapter.
