Lawrence Elwood Clowser

Lawrence Elwood Clowser, 93, of Frederick County, VA, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

Mr. Clowser was born in 1931 in Hayfield, VA, son of the late Loring and Claribel Clowser. He was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1952 and a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War as a medic on the 38th Parallel. Mr. Clowser retired from Abex Corporation after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Korean War SVC-KWVA Chapter #313, as well as a member of the Winchester/Frederick County Conservation Club and the NRA.

 

Mr. Clowser enjoyed hunting, farming, and riding his tractors. He got a thrill out of “supervising” his family.  He married Margaret Marie Triplett on December 14, 1956 in Winchester, VA.

Surviving with his wife of 67 years are daughters, Darlene Marie Clowser and Angela Clowser Watts (Michael) both of Winchester, VA and Carol Clowser Pack (Kenneth) of Martinsburg, WV; grandchildren, Zane Michael Watts (Lia) of Winchester, VA, Bailey Annmarie Pack and Hayden Lee Pack both of Martinsburg, WV; and sister, Shirley Wine (Charles) of Winchester, VA.

Along with his parents Mr. Clowser was preceded in death by siblings Agnes Clowser, Evelyn Prather, Helen VanMeter and Elmer Clowser.

A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Clowser’s memory to the Shenandoah Valley Chapter Korean War Veterans Association, c/o Ray Ewing, Treasurer, 817 Chelsea Drive, Winchester, VA 22601.
