Article by The Winchester Star - 4/13/2018

On Sunday April 8th, a ceremony and concert commemorating the 65th anniversary of the Korean War’s end was held at the Korean War Memorial in Jim Barnett Park.

The event also honored local Chapter 313 of the Korean War Veterans Association.

Winchester Mayor David Smith issued a proclamation to Chapter 313, which had many members present.

A performance by the Arts Chorale of Winchester, led by Founding Artistic Director Michael Main, included the “Star-Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful.”

After the names of the fallen veterans from the area were read with a toll of the bell, a ceremonial  wreath was placed at the memorial by Mayor David Smith, Michael Main and Chapter 313 Commander Ray Ewing.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Chapter 2132 Honor Guard including Chapter 313 member Ed Ellis provided the military honors.

Michael R. Phelps of Phelps Funeral and Cremation in Winchester sponsored the event, including refreshments after the program, which was organized by David B. Hearn.
