Old Shipmates Stay in Contact
Pictured above and below front row left to right are former Chapter 313 Commander Ray Ewing, and Jim Sumner. Back row are Tommy Pridgen and Lee Bruss. The photo above was taken aboard the USS Savage while preparing to go ashore in Seattle, Washington in 1955.
The four are pictured in the same order taken at a ship reunion at Virginia Beach in 1995. (40 years). Three of the four, Ewing, Pridgen and Bruss were together at a reunion in Savannah, Georgia in 2015. (60years) Sumner was unable to make it and has since passed away.
January Meeting Highlights
At our Jan 8th meeting, we had guest speaker John Ruplenas, an associate member of our Chapter, who spoke of his Father’s experience as an Army Combat Photographer during WW2, Korea and Vietnam. Peter Ruplenas had a long and exciting career following the troops.
John read excerpts from the Vietnam book of his Father’s exploits he has published.
