All Vets Monthly Breakfast

The first Saturday of each month, veterans of all branches of the Service meet at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Winchester to socialize, tell a bit about their time in uniform, and enjoy breakfast together.  Many belong to Veterans Service Organizations in the area.  They have served in all eras of every war with at least a couple of regulars who were in WWII.

Our Chapter has met some of our past meeting speakers and new members there. #313 members have participated regularly, sometimes upward of a dozen in some months in past years.   The sharing of life experiences of fellow veterans has been interesting and often inspirational.    Some have had quite distinguished military and civilian careers and we’ve heard some fascinating stories.

Narce Caliva had breakfast on his birthday with the group, joined by two of his usual tablemates, “Peachie” DeHaven and Herb Taylor.  Four other Chapter

members in attendance included John Shenk, Don Westfall,  new member Isaac Luttrell, and Paul Campbell (one of the hosts). Come on out next first Saturday for a good time and an all you can eat good meal.   When you arrive, pay the cashier, then turn right and go on down to the room in the far right corner.  Plan to be seated by 8:15 am.  At 8:30, after the Pledge and Invocation, Paul will announce “Chow Down!

(Golden Corral plans to undergo renovations, so members will be kept advised if and when it may affect our attendance, but put it on your calendar.}

Paul Visits a Member & Friend.

On Thursday the 12th, I went to visit “Buck” Thompson, and found him to be in great spirits. We reminisced and while there, I presented him with his photo that was taken several months ago by Rami Huan from Seoul, Korea. (Photo by Mary Ann).

We hope to see “Buck” at the December meeting @ the Clarion Inn.
