Donald K. Bane
Donald Kemp Bane, age 81, of Winchester, Virginia, formerly of Sulfur City, WV, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010, in Blue Ridge Hospice Center.
Born on June 24, 1929, he was the son of the late Charles Frederick and Madonna Elizabeth (Smith) Bane. A wife, Eleanor Jean (Evans) Bane, preceded him in death on February 21, 2007.
Mr. Bane was employed by the United States Postal Service, retiring after 36 years of service. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Donald enjoyed bluegrass music, trains, his time spent working for the Postal Service and the Wayside Theatre. He had donated over 10 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross.
Surviving are his two daughters, Susan E. Grubbs and her husband, John, of Stephens City, Virginia and Rebecca A. Meinhardt and husband, Steve, of Brandywine, Maryland; a son, Frederick W. Bane and wife Sarah (Cowan), of Keyser, West Virginia; six grandchildren, one great grandchild; a sister, Lille M. Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky; a very special niece, Penny Nader of Louisville, Kentucky and his loving companion Eva Pitcock of Opeqoun, Virginia.
A graveside and inurnment service will be held at Schwinabart Cemetery, Elk Garden, WV on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Nip Crites officiating.
