Harold L. Bowman

Harold Leon Bowman, 81, of Winchester, VA, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at his residence.


He was born March 4, 1930 in Greene County, TN, the son of Thomas J. and Emma Lushen Bowman. He served with the US Navy from 1951- 1955 during the Korean Conflict.. He was a graduate of Frenchburg High School class of 1947, Frenchburg, KY and received his bachelors degree in physics from Sterling College in Sterling, KS. 


Harold was employed by Cognitronics Corp in Reston, VA as an electronics engineer. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Shenandoah Valley Chapter 313 Korean War Veterans Association and the USS Point Cruz Association.
He married Hulda Parker on December 23, 1953 in Wichita, Kansas.
Along with his wife Hulda of Winchester, Harold is survived by two sons, David H. Bowman of Winchester and Jeffrey P. Bowman of Crozet, VA; two daughters, Rebecca A. Bowman of Winchester and Mary R. Bowman of Stevens Point, WI and five grandchildren, Rachel and Nathan Kambic, Catheryn and John Lenow, and Ruth, Andrew and Johnathan Bowman. 


A sister, Lauretta Sauceman and two brothers, Ray L. Bowman and Floyd R. Bowman preceded him in death.


An inurnment service will be held in Shenandoah Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Richard W. Reifsnyder officiating.
