Herman Elwood Jacobs Sr.

Herman Elwood Jacobs Sr., 80, of Romney, passed away Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at his residence while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born Dec. 3, 1934, in Hillsboro, Texas, he was the son of the late Thomas Jacobs and Ella Faye Campbell Jacobs. Also preceding him in death was a son, Herman Elwood Jacobs Jr.

He was a tool pusher for the oil industry, traveling to many oil fields with his job. He was an Army and Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, a member of American Legion Post 91 and VFW 1101, both of Romney.

Surviving are his wife Linette Frye Jacobs; a son, Charles G. Fiske of Indianapolis, Ind.; 2 daughters, Estalla Lee Welch of Berkeley Springs and Ivy Joann Jacobs-Westover of Slanesville; 7 grandchildren; and 19 greatgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 6-8 p.m. at McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, with Pastor James Mou officiating.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Interment will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Romney. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the U.S. Army.
