John W. Hayes
John William Hayes, 83, of Berryville, Virginia, died Sunday, September 11, 2011 in the Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center, Winchester, Virginia.
Mr. Hayes was born March 24, 1928 in Paris, Virginia, the son of John Lindsey and Ida Hinson Hayes. He was retired from Mt. Weather.
He had served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Clarke County Senior Center and the Berryville VFW Post #9760.
He married Nancy Fleming Hayes on August 18, 1956 in Paris, Virginia. Mrs. Hayes died on May 29, 2005.
Surviving are three sons, Dennis M. Hayes of Staunton, VA, Dwight Hayes of Pine Grove, VA and Gary F. Hayes of Berryville, VA; two sisters, Patricia Lee of Stephens City, VA and Janice Derrig of Cape Cod, FL; and a brother, Donald Hayes of Berryville, VA.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 A. M. Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro, VA with Rev. Karen Adams officiating.
Military honors will be provided by the Clarke County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P. M. Wednesday evening at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W.
