Jack Walter Lewis. Jacks’ battle with Alzheimer’s ended January 28, 2018 with his wife Barbara and daughters at his side. He was born June 10, 1934 in his beloved Pittsburgh and raised in Hamilton and Sarnia, Ontario, Canada and Upper Sandusky and Galion, Ohio. Jack joined the Air Force and served in Korea from 1955 to 1956. He was a member of Chapter 313 Korean War Veterans Association. He returned to attend Kent State University where he graduated in 1960. It was at Kent State University where Jack met his wife, Barbara. They were married August 18, 1962. Their family grew from daughters Janet, Catherine, and Elizabeth to include sons-in-law Brian Greene, Will Mallett, and Ben Dellavedova, Jr., grandchildren Lorelei and Enzo Dellavedova and Jack and Nora Mallett.

Mr. Lewis has degrees from Kent State University, Ohio State University and was a faculty member of Duke University before joining the Pentagon’s Management Intern Program. One of the program’s rotation was a position on a senate staff. He found his calling and stayed for the next 20 years, serving with Senators Harry F. Byrd Jr., William B. Spong, and Thomas F. Engleton. After retiring from the Senate, Jack served as vice president for governmental affairs for the National Beer Wholesalers and the Paperboard Packaging Council.
A Celebration of Life was held for Jack on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, 228 S. Pleasant Valley Road, Winchester, VA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Jack.
