COMMANDER'S COMMENTS

May, June and July are busy months in the life of our Chapter. Knowing that not everyone has e-mail but everyone does receive the Chatter,

we quite often repeat announcements in the Chatter of events just to be sure the word gets around. With that in mind please pay attention to the schedule of events found published in each issue of the Chatter.

Transportation for medical appointments or treatment has been recognized by the Board of Directors as an area where the Chapter may be of assistance to veterans in the area.   As an example the Board decided to support Faith In Action, a volunteer organization offering free non-emergency medical transportation to area residents. Additionally, it has obtained the schedule for VA’s shuttle service that provides transportation to and from the VA Medical Center.

Contact information and schedule information for both these services will be posted in the Chatter each month

Ray Fish asked me to remind everyone that he still does collect books at each meeting and delivers them to the VA Center at Martinsburg. The question was raised at a recent meeting as to whether we still collected books or magazines. The items are well received by veterans at the center. Just remember though they must be paperback books, no hard back.

Getting ready for the Stephens City Newtown Festival parade.

Once again our Boy scouts carried the colors proudly to lead our Korea Veterans unit in the parade.
