We have recently completed our third and final fundraising event for the year. Again this year these efforts were very successful. We exceeded the budgeted amount by more than three hundred dollars.
I never ceased to be amazed at how the public responds to our effort. They start donating as we are setting up and they are still donating as we are taking down. Is it because Korea has been in the news so much the last couple years or is it because the veteran is respected more presently?
I don’t know, but I do know it is very gratifying. It is very heartening to hear all the “thank you for your service” and especially so hearing parents tutoring their little ones to thank you for your service. Additionally it is so pleasing to chat with veterans of other eras as they stop by
and donate. I am involved in similar fund-raising events with my Lions Club at some of these same sites. The Lion’s efforts are well known and appreciated in the community and the public donates well to their requests for funds. However that response is far less than what we, the Korean veterans receive. We should be proud.
Even though it is several months off I want to notify every one of the change of date for our December membership meeting. By our bylaws the December meeting is the Annual Meeting of the association where the officers for the up-coming year are elected and installed. So that we might have the desired Christmas lunch in conjunction with this annual meeting it was necessary to change the meeting from the normal second Tuesday to the following Thursday. Even starting this early to make the restaurant reservation that Tuesday date was not available.
So, PLEASE everyone note the change of the December meeting from Tuesday the 11th to THURSDAY THE 13th. This is only a notice about a change of meeting date. All other particulars regarding the meeting and the luncheon will be forthcoming.
