After our board meeting on April 2nd, Gary Fletcher, Marshall DeHaven and Rob Shirley put up new flags at the Korean War Memorial at Jim Barnett Park. It was a cold and windy day but we managed. Had planned on doing it on an earlier day but unforeseen circumstances prevented it. Mitzi Churchey,  a very good worker of the cloth will mend the tattered ends of the flags replaced.  A modern day Betsy Ross so to speak. Those flags will be used to replace others that have flown over all our memorials.

Narce Caliva, KWVA National Director and Chapter 313 Past Commander, and his wife, Leslie, were honored on April 13th for their combined service of 110 years at the annual Virginia Regional American Red Cross Recognition Ceremonies in Winchester.   Narce spent 30 years as a professional staff member, including overseas service with the Armed Forces in Spain, Germany twice, Vietnam and Japan/Korea, then another 30 years as a registered volunteer.  Leslie's 50 years included rising through the ranks of over 7,000 workers to serve as Chairman of the European Area, and has continued to be an outstanding leader at all levels to this day.   She is scheduled to be the guest presenter at our June Chapter meeting.
