The month of April began with some fairly mild weather but then the Artic blast from up north descended with heavy rains and strong winds just as our April schedule was set to begin. It was a busy month with many events. Those who were 

able to participate really enjoyed themselves. May promises to be even busier. Check the events schedule to see if you can participate.  Meeting Reminder: May 9th, our guest speaker will be Bill Weber. Come out and show Bill our Shenandoah Valley Hospitality.

Condolences Go Out To

Billy J. Evans Family

WINCHESTER, VA Billy Jackson Evans, 88, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. He was born on March 7, 1929 in Granite Falls, NC, the son of Wilson Winslow and Ethel Houck Evans. He graduated from Stokesdale High School in 1948.

  Billy enlisted in the US Navy and served onboard USS Rendova CVE 114 during the Korean War. He worked with the US Department of Defense from 1955 until his retirement in 1984. In 1957, he married the love of his life, Virginia E. Causey, in Greensboro. He was a member of The Blair Road United Methodist Church in Mint Hill, NC, the VFW, American Legion, Queen City (Charlotte) and Geo. Washington (No. Virginia) Chapters of Model A Ford Club and historian of the USS Rendova Association. Billy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia E. Evans of the home; son, Gregory W. Evans and wife Melissa of Winchester, VA; granddaughter, Lynette M. Guilliams and husband Cory of Keezletown, VA and great-grandson, Carson L. Guilliams; and sister, Audrey Alleva and husband Frank of Greensboro, NC Funeral services will be held on Friday, 2:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm till service time on Friday, April 14th at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.haneslineberryfuneralhomes.com.
