VETERANS DAY AT THE FAIR

Veterans Day at the Shenandoah County Fair held on September 1st started out as a some what gloomy day, with a light rain falling, but it quickly became a very comfortably  pleasant day as a cool breeze kept everyone comfortable in the bright sunshine.

For a number of years now, members of our Chapter have made the annual trip to Wood stock to participate in the day's activities where the Fair Association honors all veterans and all active duty military personnel.

Our Chapter set up our booth to hand out brochures and information about the Korean War, the Korean War Veterans Association and our Chapter as we attempted to recruit new members.

LUNCHEON FOR GEN SHIN

On Thursday, September 22nd. Thirteen (13) members and guests traveled to Frederick, MD to participate in a joint regional luncheon at the Dutch's Daughter Restaurant to honor and thank Republic of Korea MGen and Mrs. Shin for all of the kindnesses they have extended to our Korean War Veterans, and especially our local Chapter. Chap ters participating in this event were the Bill Weber Chapter #142, the Antietam Chapter #312 and our Chapter, the Shenandoah Valley Chapter #313.

In a brief ceremony following lunch, each of the Chapters presented gifts to both Gen and Mrs. Shin. Gen Shin will be leaving the Embassy in late November  or early  December and  returning to Korea to assume a new appointment. Another ceremony  will be held in Arlington  on November 10t\ sponsored by the KWVA so we will have the opportunity to thank  the Shins again.
